Zebulon is the county seat of Pike County, Georgia. The small city of almost 1,200 residentsis 49 miles due south of downtown Atlanta, or about a 1-hour drive. The County and the City are named for Zebulon Pike, who was a hero of the War of 1812, explorer of the Louisiana Territory and the discoverer of Pike's Peak in Colorado.

Founded in 1895, Zebulon is a rural community recognized for its historic structures. The magnificent Pike County Courthouse was built in the center of downtown in 1895 and has been listed on the national register of Historic Places.  Because of the historic features of the Courthouse, two motion pictures have been filmed in Zebulon, "Murder in Coweta County (1982) and "Tank" filmed in 1983.
