The Research Triangle region is a metropolitan area commonly referred to as “The Triangle”. It has become one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the country. From its original anchor counties of Wake, Durham and Orange, it has experienced rapid expansion to also include Chatham County, Johnston County, Franklin County and parts of the counties of Granville in the north and Alamance to the west where Taylor Benefits Insurance was founded. The region is anchored by the cities of Raleigh, Durham, Cary and Chapel Hill.
